Beyoncé Knowles is one of several artist under pressure from the public to return money they earned performing for the family members of Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi.
On Wednesday, Beyoncé's publicist claimed that money from a Qadhafi concert was already donated to Haiti 'over a year ago'.
Other singers like Usher, Nelly Furtado and Mariah Carey have been under fire as of late for being hired in the past by the family of Libyan leader. Nelly Furtado said she would donate the million dollars she received for her performance, so did Usher and Mariah Carey, but Beyoncé Knowles is holding fast that the monies donated to Haiti a year ago, after the earthquake, were from the Libyan concert.
"All monies paid to Beyoncé for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year's Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, over a year ago," a statement from Beyoncé's publicist read. "Once it became known that the third party promoter was linked to the Qadhafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause."
No specifics were given regarding which charity received the funds or how much was donated.
