Laleau met with his counterpart, the Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade, Vu Huy Hoang, where an agreement was signed that aims to attract new investment into Haiti and strengthen cooperative relations between the two countries, particularly in the areas of trade and industry.

This agreement is a follow-up of cooperation led by Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe who made an official visit to Vietnam in December 2012, as part of the steps taken by the administration to answer the problem of high cost of living and food insecurity.

Minister Laleau, for his part, said that Vietnamese cooperation is a priority for the President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe. During these discussions, the two ministers agreed on the need to increase trade between the two countries and promote public-private partnership between the two Republics.
