Pòtoprens, Ayiti (defend.ht) - Kenneth H. Merten ki gen pou vini nan fen a nan 3 misyon ane l 'tankou yon Anbasadè a US a Port-au-Prince te onore nan Jedi vin yon manm ak ran a nan Grand Silver Lakwa plake nan Lòd Nasyonal la nan Onè ak Merit an Ayiti.
Thursday, July 19, 2012: President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Michel Joseph Martelly, accompanied by First Lady, Mrs. Sophia Martelly, awarded the Medal of the National Order of Honor and Merit of the rank Grand Silver Plated Cross to the outgoing Ambassador to the United States in Port-au-Prince, Kenneth H. Merten, this Thursday, July 19, during a ceremony at the National Palace.
The decoration ceremony was held in a friendly atmosphere in the presence of Prime Minister Laurent Salvador Lamothe, members of the Government, the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Auza Bernadito, and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps and Consular.
"The Presidency, on behalf of the Haitian people, thanks you for all the work you have done for Haiti. You have demonstrated your ability as a diplomat par excellence. In all activities, you never missed an opportunity to talk to the Haitian people in their native language, Creole. You have traveled across the country, in every nook and cranny. We wish Ambassador Merten, much success in your new position in Croatia. We know you will be back in Haiti. When you return, we will welcome you with all the hospitality that we reserve for our best friends." informed the Head of State.
Ambassador of the United States of America in Port-au-Prince since August 24, 2009, Mr. Merten, was honored for his contribution to democracy and institution-building in Haiti.
