Arrestation et libération de 3 Journalistes du Nouvelliste
Editor-in-Chief Frantz Duval confirmed the arrest that took place around noon as the journalists, Natacha Bazelais, Jean Marc Abelard and Jeanty Augustin, were filming and photographing and accident that occurred on Route Generald Bataille near off Delmas 33.
Judge Arnel Dimanche was present at the scene of the accident and called for the journalists to give police officers their equipment in order to erase the footage, according to Duval who spoke to Radio Kiskeya from the court house.
The journalists refused to give up their equipment, an action Frantz Duval says is normal considering freedoms that the press and public enjoy to document events occurring in public spaces.
At the time of publishing, the three were being held by the judge who is charging them with disturbing the peace.
