Haiti-Colombia: Haitian President absent from the Summit of the Americas

CARTHAGENA, Columbia (defend.ht)- Haitian President Michel Martelly has not participated in the summit of heads of state of the Americas held on April 14 and 15 in Colombia where he was represented by Foreign Minister Laurent Lamothe, informed the Presidency.
According to a statement from the office of communication, the president canceled his trip to follow the recommendations of his doctors.
"Following the operation undergone right shoulder and despite his good form now, his medical team, however, found it prudent that the President continue his physical therapy and take a few extra days to rest ..." we read in the press release.
Despite his absence, the President Martelly has received support from the Colombian president has asked the 22 heads of state and government attending the summit to consider the agenda of the Haitian government as part of rebuilding the country, indicates the press note.
Note that the Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez did not attend either the Summit of the Americas for medical reasons.
